What is the Rescue Diver Course?

Open to Advanced Open Water divers with a current first aid certificate, this course enables you to increase your confidence in self rescue skills, develop techniques for rescuing others and to learn how to manage emergency situations.

This certification is a requirement for the prestigious Master Scuba Diver rating and a prerequisite for the Divemaster course.

As an extra benefit we offer the PADI Oxygen First Aid specialty as an optional specialty certification along with the Rescue Diver course.

COURSE OUTLINE:

The course comprises five knowledge development reviews, ten rescue exercises to be completed in the swimming pool and four open water training scenarios to take place on one day in Capernwray.

The knowledge development covers self-rescue, diving first aid and oxygen administration, emergency management and equipment considerations (this is achieved by studying the psychology of rescue), preparation for a diving emergency, and accident management and responding to diving emergencies.

The DVD also presents the practical skills to be covered in water.

In the pool sessions you will develop skills to be used during the open water scenarios including self rescue, techniques to deal with problems on the surface and underwater, dealing with responsive and non responsive divers and exit techniques.

The course comes together with four accident scenarios in open water to allow you to put into practise all that you have learnt. Despite the serious nature of the course, it is always enjoyable and fun.

Rescue Referral Programme available

Simply complete the knowledge development sections and the ten rescue exercises here in the UK, pass your final exam and then carry out your open water sceanrios abroad whilst on holiday. This can be done in conjunction with any of our scheduled courses at a reduced cost.
