Clyde Wrecks & Reefs - Long Weekend
Hard Boat Diving
Largs, Ayrshire

The coastline around the Clyde estuary has a long history of shipping and a good supply of divable wrecks. The small triangle of sea consisting of the Firth of Clyde between Greenock and the Mull of Kintyre, has seen hundreds of tragic shipwrecks.

Although the diving in itself is not difficult as the area is well sheltered, the wrecks lie in around 30m of water and can be dark.
We have chartered the MV Clutha (a well equipped hard boat) through Clyde Diving Charters and will be embarking from nearby Inverkip each day.
We will be staying in Largs which is a lively little town with plenty of shops and cafés. For non-divers, the area offers shopping in nearby Glasgow, pony trekking, golf, walking and other attractions.
DIVING:
The diving for this trip is planned to include 6 hard boat dives over the course of the 3 days.
Please note:- the trip is only open to divers of at least Rescue diver certification and above with at least 30 logged dives, some of which should be sea dives in drysuits – in which you should feel very comfortable. It is also recommended that you are Deep Spec qualified (to 40 metres) and have some experience of Night Diving as this will help you get the most out of your trip.
DATES:
These trip dates include the date of travel and arrival the day before diving. Diving then takes place on the last day with return travel in the evening.
TRIP COSTS:
Costs include 3 days of boat diving, the services of a New Horizons instructor to lead the trip and organisation fees.
ACCOMMODATION:
Accommodation has been pre-booked at local B&B's and guest houses for three nights. Price per night is around £25-£30 depending on requirements. Please make your requirements clear on the booking form and note that single rooms and en-suite facilities are limited in availability and more expensive.
GEAR RENTAL:
| Full gear incl. x1 12l cylinder | Standard | £133 |
| Full gear incl. x1 12l cylinder | Dive Society Members | £89 |
Please note:- Only one cylinder per diver is required as the boat has a compressor on board (however to reduce Nitrox costs it is recommended that you take 2 Nitrox cylinders with you – topped up with air for the second dive each day). Also computers, knives, delayed and/or fixed SMB's and a main torch are required on all dives but are not included under standard gear rental.
