Click here for our 2008 schedule

South Africa & Mozambique
1st - 15th November 2008
This trip offers you the ultimate shark diving adventure along with the opportunity to experience great encounters with manta rays. If this isn’t exciting enough you will also spend a day at Kruger Park including an afternoon game drive. South Africa offers some of the best adventure diving in the world, including awesome beach launches and amazing shark diving. During the 'Shark Diving Adventure' the focus is on different dive sites for different species of sharks, enjoying up-close and personal encounters with the oceans apex predators. Following 5 days diving in South Africa we will transfer to Tofo Beach in Mozambique and spend 4 days diving the reefs of Tofo and Barra famous for Whale Sharks and Manta Rays. A final day at Kruger Park will round off a thrilling trip.

Marsa Alam
3rd - 10th December 2008
Marsa Alam is the gateway to the exciting Southern Red Sea and its colourful, pristine reefs. The coastal reefs are stunning with impressive hard and soft corals, elaborate topography and an amazing abundance and variety of colourful fish. Also available are the dramatic walls and drop-offs of Elphinstone Reef which offer a spectacular dive and sharks often swim by the spot to feed on the abundant reef fish population. A trip to Sha’ab Samadai or ‘Dolphin House’ is another great experience - a large, horseshoe-shaped reef creates a shallow, turquoise lagoon that is frequented by a pod of around 60 spinner dolphins.

Navigation Speciality 10th May
It ‘s always good to be able to find your way around a dive site, go and see all the features that you wanted to and then come back to the correct spot to exit. This course helps you to better understand your compass, develop skills, incorporating natural navigation, using and how to take compass bearings as well as use of the nav finder. All in all a good way to avoid long surface swims.

Digital Underwater photography course 20th May 19:00
These courses are designed to give you a good knowledge of the techniques of digital underwater photography and the option to practise taking photographs in the confines of a swimming pool and/or the open water whilst gaining PADI certification. The techniques you will learn are the crucial basics for taking digital underwater photographs in the open water and producing results that you can be proud of. Areas covered include digital cameras and accessories; general digital photography and shooting underwater; maintenance of underwater camera equipment; composition; exposure; focusing and white balance of your photos. You can use either your own camera system or rent one from New Horizons.

Rescue Diver 15th June
Open to Advanced Open Water divers with a current first aid certificate, this course enables divers to increase their confidence in self rescue skills; to develop techniques for rescuing others and to learn how to manage emergency situations. This grade is a requirement for the prestigious certification of Master Scuba Diver and a prerequisite for the Divemaster course. As an extra benefit we offer the PADI Oxygen First Aid specialty as an optional specialty certification along with the Rescue Diver course.

Instructor Courses
In 2008 we are offering complete instructor programmes at New Horizons. Divemasters can either complete their Assistant Instructor course or do the complete IDC leading them to the Instructor Examinations.
The Assistant Instructor course is conveniently being run over the May Bank Holiday weekend (evening Friday 02nd May-Monday 05th May). The full Instructor course then continues for the rest of the week completing on Sunday 11th May.
Please register your interest with Roger for these courses as soon as possible.

IANTD Advanced Nitrox

New Horizons are now offering IANTD Technical diving courses – starting with Advanced NITROX diver.
Julie Morrissey is our IANTD instructor and the first courses are scheduled for March; May and June. This is a great course for the experienced diver who is looking for ways to extend bottom time on dives. You will find this especially useful when diving on wrecks and reefs between 25 and 42m. The course covers the use of twin sets and decompression using stage cylinders.
Once you have completed your training New Horizons will not leave you ‘high and dry’ wondering what to do with your new skills but will offer you trips to put these into practise and explore new sites with like minded divers. For course dates and costs please contact the shop.

This course is already proving very popular with the first schedule already full. Places are still available on the course on the 27th April and the 4th/5th May. Book early to avoid disappointment.
